Join us for an unforgettable photography adventure in Iceland, where we’ll capture the dramatic landscapes of fire and ice under the fleeting shadow of a total solar eclipse. This once-in-a-lifetime journey will take us through some of Iceland’s most breathtaking locations, from rugged volcanic terrain to towering waterfalls, all under the golden glow of the midnight sun—until totality turns day into night.

Part 1: Westman Islands – Puffins & Volcanic Landscapes

We begin our adventure exploring the lesser-visited Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), home to Iceland’s largest puffin colony and a volcanic landscape shaped by the dramatic 1973 eruption of Eldfell. We’ll photograph thousands of puffins nesting along the cliffs, dramatic sea stacks rising from the Atlantic, and the remnants of a town partially buried in volcanic ash. Golden-hour light and long summer days will allow us to perfect our wildlife and landscape shots in this remote and stunning archipelago.

Part 2: The South Coast & The Eclipse

The second half of our journey takes us back to the mainland, partially exploring Iceland’s South Coast, where black sand beaches and powerful waterfalls set the stage for epic compositions. We will make our way toward Snaefellsnes peninsula, where we will photograph iconic locations like the black church and Kirkjufell, Iceland's most photographed mountain. We’ll position ourselves in a prime location to photograph the total solar eclipse, a celestial spectacle where the moon will momentarily darken the sky. With the landscape bathed in eerie twilight, this will be a surreal and rare opportunity to capture a world transformed by cosmic forces. In order to ensure your success in photographing this event, we will be hosting a formal educational session the night before.

The Palouse region, which spans Washington and Idaho, is known for it rolling hills and agricultural landscapes. This trip presented an abundance of photo opportunities from picturesque barns, abandoned grain elevators, and silos, to rolling fields of canola, wheat, lentils and other legumes, and the Palouse Falls. Paul scouted out the best places for photos. He has cultivated relationships with the locals who greet him as an old friend. Once again, Blue Hour Photo Ventures didn't disappoint.

Tuscany -- a beautiful part of Italy with rolling hills, cypress trees, and quaint old villages. This was a wonderful adventure with Allie and Hope with great accommodations, tantalizing food and picturesque villages to explore. One of the highlights of the trip was touring a working farm where we learned how to make pasta and then ate it for lunch. We also visited a wine museum, Benedictine Abby and took a dip in a nearby natural spring. This was, after all, a photo tour and Allie and Hope scouted and knew the best locations for sunrise and sunset photos. They advised us on settings and composition and answered our many questions. I was sorry to see the trip end. I made some new friends, had many laughs, learned a lot and took some great photos. I highly recommend BHPV and will travel with them again. They are professionals who inspire and guide you to take better photos.

I had a great time. The villa was wonderful. Tuscany is absolutely beautiful; a perfect location for landscape photography. I was in awe of Tuscany's beauty so many times at the various shooting locations. The pasta class experience was so much fun. The wine tasting was a memorable experience. Allie and Hope were so good in getting us to the locations for the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I highly recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed this photo tour. The hotel's location was ideal. It was a hop, skip, and jump to the waterfront and the location to take the classic photo of Cinque Terre. The food was delicious! The photo opportunities were numerous. Cinque Terre is so beautiful. Allie and Hope are great, too.

My experience in Cinque Terre with BlueHour Photo Ventures was excellent. Allie and Hope arranged for us to visit each of the towns along the coast via train and also on the impressive trail systems that are available from town to town. In particular, I appreciated the chance to really hike while enjoying my chances for photographing such spectacular scenery. We had time to explore and photograph each location, which was such an inspiration. We were given all the guidance we needed for camera settings, use of filters, advice on composition, and education on new skills and approaches to our photography in all lighting situations; sunrise, sunset, blue hour and night.
